Dear Second and Third Ward residents,
Over the past couple of days, as the temperature has become warmer, the snow has been melting, revealing fresh potholes caused, in part, by the huge snowfall we have experienced this winter season.
In an effort to assist the Public Works Department in filling all holes as efficaciously and expeditiously as possible, please feel free to forward to me via telephone or email (or contact Public Works directly at john.louise@plainfield.com or at 753-3427) the nearest cross streets of the location of the hole, or identify it by the house number. I have marked the location of several, but you can help as well. In addition to your own neighborhood, please note any other areas in the city where you find the situation most egregious.
All best,
Rebecca
This is a great idea Rebecca. This will be a big help to DPW. I'm sure poor John Louise's phone is probably ringing of the hook right now.
ReplyDeleteHi Ms williams just wanted to make you aware that both the director and his secretary are out in the recreation department today. This have been happening all the time but this department is one of the Mayor's favorite and nothing have been done. The information was bought out at a council meeting but Mr. Jacque covered it up as he was told to by the Mayor and the acting city administator. Please help our City. Some employee's get help and some continue to get away with everything. I know that we have a council that are not about the status quo. Mr. Wynn often say that he can do what he wants and so far there ave been nothing to show different. Please help stop the status quo. Mr. Jacque Howard is just another rubber stamp and will never say anything to Mr. Wynn. Again please help.
ReplyDeletePlease, Rebecca, do something about Oxford Street. A friend from FOSH lives on Oxford, and has been trying to get some assistance with the craters there, which long pre-date this harsh winter.
ReplyDeleteIf Mrs. Greaves has evidence that the mayor and her administration is favoring the 2 and 3 wards over the 1 and 4 regarding road repair she owes it to us to provide a comparative analysis to prove it. I live off Leland avenue and it is terrible.
ReplyDeleteJoseph,
ReplyDeleteI suggest that you send a separate email to the entire City Council, the Mayor, and the Director of Public Works . I've included their emails below for your convenience. You need to put them on notice and have a record of same. Your lawyer should have already told you that (I'm a lawyer myself practicing in NY). The municipality needs to have either actual or constructive notice of the problem and an opportunity to correct.

Your response has only come to the HANW executive committee. We will certainly voice your concerns at the ward meeting, but the most effective tool you have is to contact your elected officials directly.
Hope to see you at the meeting!

Subject: RE: Send Ward 2 Questions
Yes...I am deeply concerned about the dismal state of Plainfield's road conditions and the extreme prevalence of POTHOLES practically everywhere..
I have had to bring my car already three times (can submit bills if necessarily) for wheel alignment, tie rods , U-joints and ball joints repairs.
If nothing is being done about fixing the potholes by the responsible Plainfield city officials, I will submit these repair bills directly to them. I am a very frequent long distance car commuter: I can not afford risking my life in case the steering and suspension of my car breaks down as a result of damage caused by the potholes in Plainfield's streets. I have discussed this already with my lawyer, who has agreed to hold the city of Plainfield liable in case any personal injury is done to me which can be traced back to this neglect..I am not kidding: the Plainfiled city council has to have the decency to be concerned about its citizens safety and well beingness.
Also: I have always pointed out to former councilman Rashid Burney, that the condition of a city's roads is a reflection of the care and concern its council gives to that town; right now, as far as Plainfield is concerned: SHAME ON YOU , ELECTED OFFICIALS of PLAINFIELD: DO YOU GIVE A DAMN ABOUT LIVING UP TO THE TRUST WE PLACED IN YOU WHEN WE ELECTED YOU ? AND DO YOU CARE AT ALL ABOUT YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THE PROTECTION OF YOUR CITIZENS WELL BEINGNESS?????
Take Care! Joseph A. DeMeyer
