Mayor's Town Hall--Six Month Report

Last night, I attended Mayor Adrian Mapp's six-month town hall to receive an update on projects and pledges. The Plainfield Senior Citizens Center was packed--standing room only*--with residents who were anxious to hear about what has been going on under the new administration, which has been in place for six months. Also in attendance on behalf of the governing body were Councilman Cory Storch, Councilwoman Tracey Brown, and outgoing Councilman Bill Reid. 

The department heads provided updates on the work of the divisions they represent. I will not recap all that was said, as I am sure that the other bloggers in attendance will do that. For those who were not able to attend, the meeting was videotaped for later viewing on PCTV.

I am pleased to note that Mayor Mapp said that the city will be undergoing a forensic audit to ensure that the books are in order and to clear up all the troubling financial issues of the past administration, as well as a way to move forward with accountability to those taxpayers. Voters have requested this for years, and they will get what they asked for. I view this as confirmation of a new era of financial transparency in our municipal government.
