Joanne Hollis Gardens Food Pantry with Councilman Armady & Tiana Knight
On Friday, I had the pleasure of joining new Plainfield Councilman At-large Elton Armady at the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new food pantry at Joanne Hollis Gardens* on Plainfield's West End. Housing Authority of Plainfield Executive Director Randy Wood and Nathalie Hernandez, Coordinator of the Union County Office of Community Engagement and Diversity, were also on hand with the tenant board members and residents to join in the celebration. Tiana Knight, ROSS Coordinator for Joanne Hollis Gardens. who is coordinating the pantry, thanked the Community Food Bank of New Jersey for its assistance in setting up the food pantry. The spanking new refrigerators and freezers in the facility will be utilized to provide food for area residents in need. Tiana also expressed the need for volunteers to help out at the food pantry as well as to help out at the community center. After the ribbon-cutting, residents were treated to music, food, and fun. For more information about the food pantry, contact the Housing Authority of Plainfield at (908) 769-6335.

*Formerly West End Gardens, renamed and dedicated to the memory of beloved former councilwoman and HAP Commissioner Joanne Hollis.
